The plot is set during the Balkan war in the early nineties. Haunted by horrible nightmares, Harlan Draka wanders the countryside, shamelessly making money pretending to be a Dampyr (half-human and half-vampire) ridding villages of what the villagers naively believe to be evil monsters. But, when he is summoned by soldiers who are under attack by real vampires, Harlan finds out the truth: he is a Dampyr. While trying to destroy a terrible Master of the Night, he will have to learn to manage his powers and find out more about his origins.

Review:

I was truly amazed by the impressive craftsmanship of the film - the acting, special effects, and scenery were all top-notch. It exceeded my expectations, especially considering it was an Italian production.Being an enthusiastic reader of the comic stories, I found it exhilarating to witness my beloved paper characters transform into cinematic personas. The movie crew did an exceptional job capturing the somber ambiance of the setting.

I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.In my view, the most remarkable aspect of the movie is its seamless transition from a conventional war film set in the Balkan conflicts to a horror narrative involving vampires. This shift was executed masterfully.

However, there are a couple of areas that could have been improved. During the intermission, I overheard some audience members (unfamiliar with the comics) struggling to grasp certain elements of the plot, such as the identities of the three women caring for the child dampyr. This may have stemmed from the challenge of condensing a complex storyline into a movie while diving into action without extensive exposition.

Another unnecessary aspect was the introduction of the dampyr's ability to fly in the final scene. One of the appealing aspects of the dampyr character(s) is their status as mostly regular humans combating vastly stronger adversaries. The inclusion of flight in the climax somewhat diminished this dynamic.
